The Warneet jetties are a facility and part of the maritime infrastructure that has been used and valued not just by the local community but by thousands of folk from all over the state. Here is a list of those groups that this website speaks on behalf of:
Warneet North Boat Club - The Warneet North Boat Club (WNBC) was established in 1954 and is an active contributor to the Warneet and broader community and has been for many decades. Its primary focus is on boats and draws its membership from a wide field of enthusiasts located from Castlemaine and Lower Plenty in the north to Powelltown and Paynesville in the East, from Lang Lang East and Coronet Bay to the south and Beaumaris through to Mt Martha in the west. And of course, many members come from Warneet and its surrounds and the suburbs of greater Melbourne.
Recreational boating and club slipping and maintenance activity inject significant monies into the local economy via material purchase and specialist outsourcing. Club management looks to the future with optimism and has invested heavily in refurbishing the infrastructure needed to support its operations. Even so, the recent closure of the North Jetty is of major concern and will have a significant impact on operational effectiveness.
Warneet Motor Yacht Club - was the first Yacht Club established on Western Port in 1952, and is the home of the iconic Warneet Around French Island Race (WAFIR). The club provides a meeting place for the local boating and yachting fraternity with cruising, racing and social activities. The WMYC welcomes non sailing members, it is as much a community hub as a yacht club and is proud to be an integral part of the Warneet and City of Casey communities, providing a hub for community groups.

Al's Bait and Tackle - Al’s Bait and Tackle based in Warneet at the boat ramp adjacent to the South Warneet Jetty has been servicing the fishing community for at least 15 years. Al has been the proprietor for the last 8 years. One shouldn’t be deceived by the size of the shop, Al’s Bait and Tackle is well stocked and provides advice and information on local conditions for thousands of fishers who use the Warneet facilties. Al’s facebook page, (Als bait and Tackle) which has 8500 followers, shows just how many people are keen to know what the conditions are and what’s biting in the Warneet area. Al has lost one third of his turnover since the closure of the south jetty which was a popular fishing spot for land based fishers.
Al is also the owner of Als Fishing Charters Warneet which operates a delightful 102 year old fishing boat named Spina. Unfortunately due to the Jetty Closures Al is unable to operate the fishing charter business because there is no means for passengers to board the vessel., https://www.alsbaitandtackle.com.au/

SEATAC - Seatac, originally Toorak Anglers Club now South East Anglers Club was established in 1907. They have had a base in the area providing accommodation, storage and boat parking facilities for members wanting to fish the waters of Westernport since 1987. Originally Cannons Creek was the base and in 1995 they moved to Balaka Street Warneet. SEATAC brings fishing enthusiasts from all over the Greater Melbourne area to Warneet for fishing trips usually for two or three days at a time. SEATAC are very concerned and disappointed to have lost the land based fishing platforms that were provided by the North and South jetties. These were ideal for teaching youngsters about rigging and casting, to provide and backup if the club boat was full and a safe place for all to fish if the weather turned bad and boats were unable to go out.
See here for more information about SEATAC
Visitors and Fishing enthusiasts - we have been gathering feedback steadily every day from visitors and fishers who have arrived at Warneet disappointed not to be able to access the jetties.
